Sophie Batchelor

Personal statement

Sophie graduated from Bath Spa University in 2016 after studying BA Music and MMus Performance. After completing her Postgraduate degree, Sophie spent a year working in the Widening Participation Office at Bath Spa where she helped to raise awareness of, and aspirations towards, Higher Education amongst disadvantaged and under-represented school students.

Sophie joined Student Support in August 2016 to become the Peer Support Coordinator. The Peer Mentor Scheme matches first year students with second or third years from their school of study. Peer Mentors are trained to provide informal support to new students throughout their first year with the aim of making the transition to university life as smooth as possible.  

Sophie is also an Associate Lecturer at Bath Spa University and leads the Gamelan ensemble.
