Charles's international story

For me, coming to Bath Spa University was also the first time I left my home country, which brought new challenges in my academic, professional and personal life. I have found the environment at Bath Spa University to be very encouraging, starting with the admissions process to the academic teaching - staff here were dedicated to support my success!

The academic structure was very different to what I was used to in Ghana. In the UK, postgraduate Masters' programmes, whilst being in a supportive environment, require a high level of independent pursuit and determination. However, I have grown to appreciate the rigorous academic learning involved in my course.

What is your advice to other international students considering studying at Bath Spa University?

Really research the programme and the academic staff that you will be working with, to gain the best you can from your study experience. Choose wisely the kind of course you want to pursue, rather than the name of the university, and think about what the lecturers can do to help you. That was really important to me.

''The best thing about Bath Spa University...''

The academic structure was very different to what I was used to in Ghana. I've grown to appreciate the rigorous academic learning involved in my course.

''I recommend Bath Spa because ...''
