Course: MA Design: Fashion and Textiles

Artist's statement

Daphne's MA research asked ‘…whether timelessness of design can potentially extend the life of a textile’ demonstrating that provenance and materiality were important aspects as well as design. This is a continuing theme of her work, embracing the process of creating designs with the quality and potential longevity of the textile.

Inspiration for the Fontaine Vive Collection was a house in France, originally a Cistercian Abbey. Irish Linen was either hand-dyed and screen printed or digitally printed. Other design techniques employed were print, paint and collage.
