Dikra's Bath Spa story
My MA at Bath Spa was an enriching opportunity in discovering my own potential and developing my craft in the art of Creative Writing. Amongst my peers and tutors, I felt encouraged to look beyond my own perception of my work. Some of the hardest things I learnt on the MA were how to receive constructive criticism, how to apply it, and also how to give it. The process of talking about the experience of being a writer was intense and inspiring. But the best thing was that memories were made of writing, examining, rewriting and testing the poems in the publishing world for the first time. Those are the steps that I will always remember.
"Since finishing the MA at Bath Spa, my poems have been published in the UK and around the world."
Since finishing the MA at Bath Spa, my poems have been published in the UK and around the world. My MA manuscript There are No Americans in Baghdad’s Bird Market was published as pamphlet by Tall-Lighthouse in 2009. Since then I have been writing poetry and prose on themes that affect our social and political lives as citizens of the world. I also work as literary translator and teacher while preparing a new collection of poems.
