Course studied: BA (Hons) Acting
Graduating year: 2016
Elise Woolnough studied Acting at Bath Spa and went on to complete an MA in Applied Theatre at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in October 2017. Since then she has taken on the role of Artistic Project Leader at inclusive theatre company Haringey Shed and started her first professional tour as Widow Twanky in Aladdin with Chaplins Pantos in November 2017.
Elise's Bath Spa story
Over my three years at Bath Spa I had some incredible experiences which all came directly as a result of my course. During my second year I took part in the writing module and I was able to write and create my own short film titled "Vicar School". Seeing my own story and characters come to life was one of the most rewarding experiences of my training.
I am also a founding member of Freshly Squeezed Theatre Company. As part of a Theatre in Education module we created a children's show called "Tongue-Tied" that was later transferred to the Lion and Unicorn Theatre in Kentish Town and toured schools in Bath in 2016. As part of the Directed Play module in my third year I was given the opportunity to work with outside company PIGDOG Productions with whom we workshopped and performed the brand new play "Blame". Working on "Blame" was the highlight of my degree, being given the chance to work with an outside director on a new and boundary-breaking piece was both challenging and thrilling.
Living in Bath as a student is both fun and convenient, in my first year I lived in student halls off campus which gave me the chance to experience life on campus as a working environment and the city as my home. Bath is a fantastic city for students. There is always something happening and there is access to lots of restaurants and shops. I have had an incredible three years at Bath Spa University and I would recommend it to anyone who is creative, free thinking and ready to make their mark on the world.
"Seeing my own story and characters come to life was one of my most rewarding experiences to date."
