Since completing her degree, Holly has secured a position as a Caseworker for local MP, James Heappey.
I have been employed as a caseworker to James Heappey, the Member of Parliament for the Wells Constituency since May 2015. I am responsible for progressing personal casework which is raised with James and help members of the public to resolve issues or complaints they have about local government, government departments, the NHS and many more.
I attended several career appointments and a handful of workshops during my time at Bath Spa. I had actually gained a place to study postgraduate law, before being offered by job, and had used the careers department throughout the application process.
"One of the great things about volunteering is the range of backgrounds of the individuals you will find yourself working with. Many volunteers have, or have previously had, fascinating jobs themselves and may be able to give you an insight into their work."
''My advice for current students is ...''
Get as much work and volunteering experience as you can whilst a student. One of the great things about volunteering is the range of backgrounds of the individuals you will find yourself working with. Many volunteers have, or have previously had, fascinating jobs themselves and may be able to give you an insight into their work. It is also never too early to start building a network of contacts who may act as a reference later or be able to put you in touch with professionals they know.
''The best thing about the course I studied was ...''
Is without a doubt the location.
''I recommend Bath Spa because ...''
It has an amazing and friendly atmosphere, where your lecturers know who you are and what interests you. Following graduation, I am still in contact with several of my tutors on Facebook. You are also able to know almost everybody on your course, so when you are assigned presentation groups, or go on trips, it is unlikely you will be working with a stranger.
