Lauren completed three years at Bath Spa University on the BA Acting course. During her course she was fortunate to walk straight into the acting industry.

Lauren's story

During my final year, professional director Elise Davison was invited to direct our final year show 'Little Revolution'. This then led to the opportunity of auditioning for a placement with her award winning Theatre Company, Taking Flight, which I am now currently in. I was able to leave my training early to start professional work being fully supported by Bath Spa University.

The placement has involved 5 week intensive rehearsals, and touring all over Wales and parts of the UK including Bristol Shakespeare Festival performing The Tempest. I am working with a professional cast and team, I learn new skills everyday and the experience has been overwhelming.

"You can do anything if you set your mind to it, and Bath Spa encourages and most importantly supports that."

''My advice for current students is ...''

I urge anyone interested in acting to look into training here at Bath Spa, you will find yourself and reach goals that you may never think you could reach. You also may find a hidden talent or desire - I just wrote and produced a long short film that was shown at the Bath Fringe Festival this year!

''The best thing about the course I studied ...''

Training at Bath Spa University has enabled me to find the performer that I am and wanted to be.

The course encourages every actor to be versatile, mature and 'unique' - I highlight unique because the course doesn't offer just one pathway into the industry, it offers multiple pathways, may that be acting, directing, writing, devising and the rest! Actors are not restricted, they are pushed to play and seek who they are as an individual artist.

''I recommend Bath Spa because ...''

You can do anything if you set your mind to it, and Bath Spa encourages and most importantly supports that.

I worked hard to be where I am now, but without the opportunity the University gave me, I may not be where I am now, so thank you Bath Spa!
