Course studied: BSc Human Nutrition
Graduating year: 2012
Job: Band 5 Dietitian
Lucy works as a Band 5 Dietitian at Salford Royal Hospital, she graduated from a postgraduate course in Nutrition and Dietetics in 2016. Before getting on the course she studied Bsc (hons) Human Nutrition at Bath Spa University and then worked for a year as a Healthcare Assistant to gain experience in the hospital environment.
Whilst studying I realised that I was very interested in the impact of nutrition on health, I also enjoyed working with people as I volunteered with The Campus Trust - a charity teaching homeless and elderly people how to cook on a budget and the basics of nutrition. I decided that I would like to be a Dietitian however I was not successful in getting on the postgraduate course first time round. I did not let this did not put me off - and I feel as though working as a Healthcare Assistant until reapplying helped me to understand the hospital system and ultimately become a better Dietitian.
Studying at Bath Spa helped me to realise where I wanted to be, and I couldn't be happier with my current job. I feel very proud to be working at a hospital as well-respected as Salford Royal.
