Rebecca's masters experience
So far, the content of the course has been challenging but also really engages your brain into thinking differently and more in depth. This is specifically true within the Environment and Society module with Dr Jim Jeffers which all the students thoroughly enjoyed as a result.
The Waste, Energy and Pollution Management module with Dr David Watson was also of specific interest to me. I was able to expand my previous knowledge on the subject and apply it into a assignment based on collected waste data of Bath and Northeast Somerset. Moving forward into the next trimester, the modules are becoming more focused and use more advanced skills such as ArcGIS mapping software and spatial analysis techniques.
One module which was daunting to start with is the Applied Geomorphology module with Dr Dave Simm and Dr Richard Johnson. However, after the introductory module, the lecturers simplified what was required of us which became far easier to get our heads around. In addition to this, the module will provide an opportunity to work with the Environment Agency through the assignment. This not only will allow us to understand professional practice but also prepare us for what to expect in future careers.
