Course studied: BA (Hons) Commercial Music
Graduating year: 2014
Job: Marketing Executive
Rebecca Leach graduated from Bath Spa University with a 1st Class Honours degree in Commercial Music. She is now a Marketing Executive, working for the Kaleidoscope Collection, an independently-owned character hotel group in the centre of Bath. As well as working full time, Rebecca is passionate about music and plays in two Bristol-based bands that gig regularly in the local area.
Since leaving Bath Spa University I have been lucky enough to spend over a year working for a wonderful, ethical company. My role has a lot of responsibility which has taught me a great deal about management. My course helped me by giving me the confidence and knowledge in the appropriate skills needed to not only get the job in the first instance, but perform well on a day to day basis.
"Have the confidence to go for a job that you think might be a little out of your comfort zone; you are likely to learn more!"
''My advice for current students is ...''
Refine your skills before graduating. Don't just pick a job aimlessly without giving thought to whether it actually aligns with your interests, passions and longer-term career objectives. Have the confidence to go for a job that you think might be a little out of your comfort zone; you are likely to learn more! Remember that in every interview, you're interviewing them as much as they're interviewing you; bring some questions to the table. Use your contacts and keep in touch with your lecturers.
