Course: MA Fine Art
I'm interested in how painting utilises the body and landscape, and what is at stake when these two share the same surface. The flat surface asks questions about proximity and depth. Do you exist in your landscape, come from it, or remain part of it?
I investigate the ambiguities within drawing and painting, and how that informs the brittleness of identity. There is a moment of capture, by photography or memory, that establishes a notion of immutability. I think painting allows a mechanism for release from that artificial stasis.
