The Extra-curricular Activity Fund

The Extra-curricular Activity Fund (EAF) provides financial support for individual or groups or students who are undertaking an out of classroom activity.

The money allocated to each student or group of students is used to match funds raised on the University crowdfunding platform. The aim is to encourage students to be enterprising and entrepreneurial, giving them an insight into funding their future work, marketing and promotion.

Value: Maximum of £300

Individuals may apply for up to £300 and groups of students may apply for a maximum of £1000. All applications must be for unique projects.

Criteria

The fund is available to any currently enrolled student or group of students who is undertaking an extra-curricular activity which is not related to their academic program. Any student who is an ambassador for the university representing at county, national or international level through a sporting or extra-curricular activity, are also eligible to apply for the EAF.

The activity must meet the following criteria:

  • Be extra-curricular in nature
  • Benefit the local community/University’s public image
  • Contribute to an exceptional and life changing university experience
  • The funding must not be used for financial or academic gain

Academic conferences, study abroad programs and academic research activities are not eligible.

Successful applicants are required to submit a brief report detailing their participation in the funded activity within 14 days of the activity having been completed.

How to apply

Applicants will need to submit the online application form (student login required) along with supporting evidence and a supporting statement from your tutor or subject/course leader, or your SU representative. Supporting documentation must be added to the online application as attachments.

Student Groups should submit one application from either the president or treasurer of the society, giving details of the number of students requesting funding along with their full names and student ID numbers.

  • 9.00am (BST), Monday 18 October 2021
  • 9.00am (GMT), Monday 21 February 2022
  • 9.00am (BST), Monday 25 April 2022

How applications are judged

All applications will be decided by the Bath Spa University Disbursement panel. The panel will meet within four weeks of each application deadline and applicants should expect to hear an outcome within six weeks. Decisions cannot be appealed.

Successful applications made for Students’ Union Clubs and societies' projects will be paid to the Students Union not the individual making the application.
