The Taunton Maids Bursary
Bath Spa University has been awarded funds from the Taunton Maids Bursary to support students studying music subjects at Bath Spa University; at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. You must have received a targeted email from the Development and Alumni Relations Office to be able to apply for funds from the Taunton Maids Bursary.

You will be aged between 18-25 whose permanent residence before coming to University was Somerset, North Somerset, and Bath and North East Somerset and are studying BA Music, BA Commercial Music and BA Creative Music Technology; postgraduate courses include MMus Songwriting, MMus Performance, MMus Composition and MMus Creative Sound and Media Technology.
You are able to apply for funding to help you with:
- Funding towards concerts for special occasions
- Part funding of instrumental/specialist tuition (e.g. external course with a professional coach)
- Scores/sheet music
- Purchase of Instruments
- Contribution towards music-related trips and activities
You must ask your tutor to supply a supporting statement to accompany your application.
How to apply
You must have received an email from the Development and Alumni Relations Office to be eligible. Applications received without this will not be considered.
Applicants will need to submit the online application form (student login required) along with supporting evidence and a supporting statement from your tutor or subject/course leader.

How applications are judged
The selection will be decided by the Bath Spa University Disbursement panel in consultation with course leaders from relevant subjects. The panel will meet three times a year to discuss applications received.
The panel will meet within four weeks of each application deadline and applicants should expect to hear an outcome within six weeks.
