Frequently asked questions

Where will Get Started take place?

The Get Started event takes place at the Newton Park campus:

Bath Spa University
Newton Park
Newton St Loe

For students who'll be studying at the School of Art or the School of Design, there's an opportunity to visit the Locksbrook and Sion Hill campuses on the Friday.

I'll be living off-campus. How can I get to Newton Park?

You need to make your own way to Newton Park campus. At Registration, there will be information available on how to buy a digital bus pass.

When can I move into halls of residence?

Information for September 2020 coming soon!

Can I move into halls early without attending the activities?

You're not able to move into Halls on the Wednesday unless you're attending the Get Started event. We encourage students to attend activities on all three days, as they offer a great opportunity to settle into the start of your University life.

Who will I be living with? Will I be on my own?

During your time at university you'll be living with a range of people.

As you're arriving before the start of term, the rest of your flat / housemates may not have moved in yet, so you may be the only one in your kitchen for the first few days. But don't worry! There will be other people nearby on campus, with evening events happening on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday where you can meet people.

A Resident Life Assistant will call around in the evening during Get Started. Student Wellbeing Services will also be open during office hours, so feel free to contact us if you're feeling nervous.

What should I wear?

Wear whatever you're happy and comfortable in. Some events will involve moving around and participating in activities. The campus can require a lot of walking (all accessible) so comfortable shoes are a must.

Do I have to attend all the sessions?

You're expected to attend activities on all three days.

Wednesday is a great opportunity to settle in, with a chance to meet people and learn about university life in the evening.

Various activities are available on the Thursday and Friday, and you should attend as many as possible to find out about the services available to you and to get these in place for you before the start of term.

I declared a disability on my application but haven’t received an invite to Get Started. Can I still attend?

Unfortunately, we're not able to offer a place on Get Started to all students who declare a disability. We have a limited number of places, and priority is given to the students we think will benefit most from this programme.

If you wish to discuss this further, please contact Student Wellbeing Services..
