Samuel's story

Bath Spa has a beautiful landscape and exciting city to meet friends, explore and grow. The University itself has excellent vocal coaching for performance, maintenance and health.

Aspects of my degree that were of note was the Feldenkrais movement taught by a leading practitioner, and the vast exploration of comedy skills and a chance to make work with it. The University also has a number of lecturers with doctorate levels of knowledge on Shakespeare, and there are industry level stage combat qualifications. All of these courses are taught to be used together.

"I am most proud of bringing Macbeth to Kuwait with The Young Shakespeare Company, which for many audience members was their first theatre experience."

Why did you choose Bath Spa?

It provided vocational actor training in a university learning environment.

How did the course support your steps into industry?

The course dedicates a particular portion of its final year to career development. Acting is a profession in particular that will require you to enter an audition (or interview) environment regularly. The ability to present yourself both performance wise and professionally was not forgotten by our course leaders and a considerable amount of time was dedicated to work on CV and audition technique.

"The best thing about the course I studied was..."

The support in developing your own work and the resources and time to make it.

"I recommend Bath Spa because..."

All the knowledge and oppotunities are there for those willing to work hard for them.
