You can renew your loans online through the library catalogue, or via the self-service machines.

There is now no limit to the amount of times you can renew your items unless they have been recalled, or if you have outstanding debts or overdue loans.
Please note: it's your responsibility to ensure loans are returned or renewed on time.
You can pay Library fines at the front library desk, or through your Library account.
Please make sure that all overdue items are renewed or returned before making an online payment so that the amount owed is calculated correctly.

How many books can I take out?
All students and staff can borrow up to 25 items.
These can be any combination of items - books, audiovisual materials, DVDs, CDs etc.
How long can I keep books for?
There is a standard loan period of 30 days for all items, except those that are marked as reference only.
Items will have one automatic renewal for a further 30 days. After that, you will need to renew items online or in person.
There is no limit on the number of times an item can be renewed.
However, if an item you have on loan is recalled, i.e. someone places a reservation on it, you have seven days to return it. This allows fair access to high demand items.
What are the overdue fines?
Fines are only charged on items that have been recalled and not returned within seven days. They are charged at 50p per day (not including weekends or closed days).
You won't be charged fines if you have simply forgotten to renew your item and it becomes overdue. However, once an item is overdue for 28 days, you will be invoiced for the replacement cost of the item as well as a £5.00 administration fee. Once you return the item, the replacement cost will be removed, but you will still have the £5.00 administration fee to pay.
If fines are above £10.00 you will be not be able to borrow or renew items until you have paid.
What if I don’t return a book or it gets damaged?
Please let us know as soon as possible so that we can help.
If Library items aren’t returned or are lost/damaged, you will temporarily have library privileges withdrawn and replacement costs will be charged at the full current price of the item.
Invoices for lost or damaged books will normally be sent to you by the University Finance department and payment should be made to them. If you find and return the Library items within 6 months of the invoice being paid, we will be happy to give you a refund.
Can I reserve books that are on the shelf before I visit the library?
Reservations can only be placed on items where all copies are out on loan, or at a campus different to your home campus.
Once you have been notified that your reservation is available, you will have seven days to pick it up.
Unfortunately, you cannot reserve eBooks.
