New and returning students must register online before the start of each academic year.

You'll find useful information below to help you complete the online registration process.

You must complete these two steps:

New student FAQs

Do I need to complete online registration?

Yes! All students starting a new programme of study are required to complete online registration.

However, if you've studied at Bath Spa University previously, you won't need to create an account. You'll be able to log in to your account using your existing student ID number and password.

During online registration you will be guided through a series of screens. You'll be asked to confirm your personal details, you'll find information about your tuition fees (if applicable), you'll upload a photo for your student ID card and you will be asked to confirm your agreement to the University's terms and conditions.

When can I begin online registration?

The online registration portal will open approximately two weeks before your course start or course induction date.

At this time, you'll be sent an email from Bath Spa University inviting you to first create an account, and then to complete online registration. The email will be sent to the correspondence email address you provided at the point of application.

What will I need?

Completing online registration will take about 15 minutes, and you'll need:

  • Your six-digit Bath Spa student ID number, which can be found on any formal email correspondence from the University
  • A digital photograph for your student ID card (JPEG file, 3MB max). To make it easy for you, this step can be completed on a smartphone using a photo from your camera roll. Selfie time!
  • Your bank account details (in order for the University to make any payment to you that you may be eligible for)
  • A valid credit/debit card to arrange payment of your fees (this will only be required if you are liable to pay fees or are waiting for your student finance to be confirmed)

You won't need:

  • Your approval letter from Student Finance England as we'll have confirmation of all funding approvals.

Please note that if you have a sponsor other than Student Finance England, you'll need to provide a sponsor letter to myfinance@bathspa.ac.uk.

Do I need to complete the student ID card section of the online registration portal?

As part of the online registration process, you'll be asked to upload a photo of yourself for your student ID card.

You're encouraged to complete this step as early as possible so that we can have your student ID card ready when you arrive. It's easy to do - you can even access the online registration portal from your mobile phone and upload a photo.

You'll be notified of where and when to collect your student ID card at your in-person enrolment session or through your course area.

What is the self service password reset tool?

During online registration, you'll be taken to the password reset tool, where you'll be asked to answer some "secret questions". Make sure you remember the answers. This initial process is required only once, and it will allow you to reset your password yourself throughout your studies at Bath Spa.

If you've forgotten your password before you have fully completed online registration, or think you may have been locked out of your account, please call the IT Helpdesk on +44 (0)1225 876500 or email ithelpdesk@bathspa.ac.uk, quoting your Bath Spa student ID number.

What If I'm unable to complete online registration before I arrive?

To ensure a smooth registration process, we encourage all students to complete as many of the online registration steps as possible before arrival - particularly the student ID card section in step two.

However, if you're unable to complete online registration prior to your arrival, don't panic. Staff will be on hand at your in-person enrolment session to help you through the process and answer any financial queries you may have. Staff can even take your photo and upload it to your registration account.
