We'll make sure you're supported when you're studying with us. We have a range of services and departments which you can take advantage of.

Your welfare is important to us. As a close-knit community of global citizens, we strive to give you the best student experience. We have different teams of dedicated professionals who can help you deal with any visa or academic queries, or support you when you're going through a difficult time. We also have a range of sports and other activities for you, to ensure you get the very best out of your university experience.

Support for you

As part of our dedicated support service for international students, we'll welcome you at the airport and we will organise welcome inductions, arrange informative sessions to engage with you throughout the academic year. 

We understand that you will have many questions and may require guidance each step of the way and our International Student Advice service can provide expert advice and support to international students.

We can help you with a number of immigration issues including how to obtain a visa for study, whether you apply from overseas or in the UK, rules on working and travelling during and after your studies, visa corrections and immigration for family members. 

We'll also send you the latest news and updates in a regular newsletter to your BSU student email, so please make sure you check your email regularly.

You are welcome to visit us during our office hours at G10 in Main House at Newton Park campus. We are open between 9AM and 5.00PM (Mon-Thurs) and 9AM and 4.30PM (Fri).

  • Immigration Advice service

The International Student Advice team provides high quality, impartial and free immigration advice to current students, applicants and recent graduates. We operate within the wider International Advice and Compliance Service.

The provision of immigration advice is regulated by the Office of the Immigration Services Commission (OISC). The OISC sets out the principles within their Code of Standards and anyone providing immigration advice must adhere to this code. Higher Education institutions are authorised under a Ministerial Order (Part V of the Immigration and Asylum Act, 1999) to provide immigration advice and services and should adhere to the OISC Code of Standards. The Code of Standards can be found on the Government website.

Staff working in the International Student Advice team are members of the UK Council for International Student Affairs (UKCISA) and Association of International Student Advisers (AISA) and we operate in accordance with their Code of Ethics.

You can contact us via email, drop-in sessions, one-to-one appointments or through our scheduled workshops. All our staff follow the Code of Standards as set out by the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC).

  • Go Global Team (Exchange/Erasmus+/Study Abroad)

We are your first point of contact if you are a Bath Spa University student interested in studying abroad on Erasmus+ (EU) or exchange (non-EU), or if you are a student at one of our partner universities interested in spending a semester here at Bath Spa. If you have any questions about going abroad or prior to your arrival, please let us know at (EU) or (non-EU).

Although we are currently working virtually, once we return to campus you will be welcome to visit us during our drop-in sessions or in G02 in Main House, Newton Park.

Support available for international students

English language support

Studying your degree in English can be challenging. The English Language Unit (ELU) are here to make sure you meet those challenges with confidence and make the most of your student journey.

We provide English language and EAP (English for Academic Purposes) support for all international students whose first language is not English.

Throughout the academic year, we run courses, offer individual support and provide access to self-study resources. All our services are free and you are welcome to use them at any point throughout the academic year.

We want to make sure you feel fully supported as an international student at Bath Spa University, especially when it comes to questions related to your visa. We want to ensure that you fully understand your responsibilities as a visa student at Bath Spa University.

Student Wellbeing Services

The Student Wellbeing Services is here to help you get the most out of your studies and student life. We're open all year round and encourage you to get in contact if you have any queries or concerns.

We have expert advisers who can give you support in any of the following areas:

Student Wellbeing Services operates a combination of drop-in sessions and bookable appointments and we aim to respond to all initial enquiries within 36 working hours. 

Fees and finance

If you have any queries relating to your tuition fees, how to make a payment or how to transfer money from overseas, please contact our Finance Team who will be happy to assist you.

The Students' Union

The Students’ Union’s (SU) role is to help you make the most of your University experience.

The SU promotes your interests and welfare during your course. It provides social, cultural, sporting and recreational activities and forums for discussion and debate for your personal development .

One World Society
One World Society is for all our students from around the world to get together and share the different customs, values and experiences that are important to them and their home countries. Meeting regularly, the group host a variety of fun 'themed nights'.
For example, students often meet to share 'Cooking from around the world'. This is where students take it in turns to 'showcase' their home country and cook for other students, so that they can taste what a traditional meal or snack from their country is like.
The Society also meets to discuss the Bath Spa student experience and what the International Team can do to support this. In addition, the Society organises trips and visits to interesting places throughout the UK.

Our Careers team are here to help you plan your future, make the best use of your time as a student and advise you on how to work towards your personal, career goals. We can advise you on:

  • how to find a part-time job while you're a student;
  • how to find internships and volunteering, related to your career aspirations;
  • how to write a good CV and covering letter and prepare for a job interview;
  • how to find summer work;
  • how to plan the next career steps following graduation.

Bath Spa University's International Scholarship programme aimed at high-achieving international students who are looking to study in the UK.

The scholarship programme provides a range of opportunities for full-fee paying international students studying on-campus who are applying for pre-sessional, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.


Graduation is a chance to celebrate your academic achievement with friends and family and your cohort. We know how important this day is for our students, and our Graduation team are here to help answer all of your questions.
