Komedia Bath – Bath Spa University

Komedia is Bath’s first community-owned venue dedicated solely to live entertainment.

Hosting over 400 events per year in a beautifully restored Grade II listed former cinema, Komedia Bath offers an unparalleled programme of comedy, music, cabaret, kids’ events, club nights and just about everything in between.

Komedia is the premier destination for touring entertainment in the region and hosts some of the biggest names in comedy and music. Recent performers include Buzzcocks, Joe Lycett, Katherine Ryan, Russell Howard, Band of Skulls, Brian Fallon and the Damned.

Five-time winner of the Chortle Award for Best Venue in the West and Wales, Komedia works closely with Bath’s many festivals, including The Bath Comedy Festival, The Bath Festival, Bath Children’s Literature Festival, Bath Fringe Festival and FilmBath Festival.

About the partnership

Historically, Komedia Bath has worked alongside Bath Spa University to deliver a wide range of student opportunities including specialist internships, work experience, performance opportunities and part-time and full-time employment including marketing posts and front of house roles.

Since Komedia Bath converted to a community benefit society, the partnership with the University has gone from strength to strength. In line with Komedia's objectives, as outlined in their rules, they continue to develop and evolve their purpose to deliver events that benefit all in our local community.

Our exciting joint plans for 2022 and beyond include a free music festival showcasing the very best in live local music. This series of family friendly festivals, held quarterly, will bring regular and accessible music to the community and give local bands the chance to perform on one of Bath’s biggest stages. Bath Spa student involvement will range from programming and production through to delivery and performance.

"We are immensely proud of our ongoing partnership with Bath Spa University. The benefit to students is quantifiable whether as audience members, club attendees or in the multitude of ‘behind the scenes’ roles, positions and experience the venue offers our student community."
