Student life

Being a Bath Spa student means joining our close-knit community. It’s about bumping into friends on campus, embracing challenges and genuinely caring, and it's a community that you'll be part of long after you graduate, as one of our alumni.

Our Students' Union is here to help you make the most of your University experience. As well as lots of incredible events to get involved with, you could also lead a campaign, join a club or society or make change on campus.

Thinking but where will I live? Whether you prefer city living or on-campus halls, there's something for everyone at Bath Spa.

Discover the perfect student city

Live in one of the world's most beautiful, vibrant and forward-looking cities, the UNESCO World Heritage city of Bath. It's the perfect student city – not too big, and not too small - and has lots of great places to explore.

There's quick and easy access from all of our campuses into the city centre.

Safety first

Bath is ranked as the safest university city in England and Wales, and the sixth safest university city in the UK according to the Complete University Guide. It's a truly great place to live - the mix of tourists and students generates a friendly and bustling atmosphere that you won't find anywhere else.

“The campus is amazing, the lecturers are amazing, and Bath in general is amazing. The University is so welcoming and there's ample opportunity. The accommodation is cosy, the facilities are great and the nightlife isn’t half bad, either. You’ll have such a great time – I wish I could do it all again!”

They're available to offer advice and guidance on everything from mental health to wellbeing and disability support.

Careers and Employability

Our Careers team are here to help you get a head start – whether it’s exploring your career goals, getting work experience or applying for graduate opportunities.

Diversity and Inclusion

Our Equality and Diversity Committee is leading us in finding meaningful ways to work in partnership with the Students’ Union, staff and students to address issues of racism and inequality.

During October 2020, we celebrated Black History Month at Bath Spa. The Black Lives Matter campaign has highlighted the difficulties that black people routinely face, so our Black History Month celebrations focused on the experiences of prominent and ordinary black people in the UK, and on what we can all do to build a better future.

Green Focus

It doesn’t stop with the people – we care for our environment too. We're committed to becoming a certified Zero Carbon Organisation by 2030, and have a detailed Sustainability Strategy that covers everything we do as a business.

On the 27 February 2020 Bath Spa University and Bath Spa University Student's Union jointly declared a climate emergency. We're now encouraging students, staff, and the wider Bath community to make a pledge to pave the way in making a necessary change.

95% of our graduates are in work or further study fifteen months after graduation*

Student-led campaign signals support for the Bath Spa community

With the cost of living crisis affecting so many people all over the country, two Bath Spa University students have taken action to offer help to their fellow student community by signposting them to the wide range of available support from the University and elsewhere.

Michelle Hogarth and Penny Tate set up Student Signal, a student-run campaign to help students who are in need of information or support that in many cases already exists, but they’re simply unaware of it.

Bath Spa University awarded Gold Accreditation by British Hedgehog Preservation Society

Bath Spa University has been awarded a Gold Accreditation from the British Hedgehog Preservation Society for being a Hedgehog Friendly Campus, just one year after achieving Silver status.

Hedgehogs are listed as vulnerable under the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List and their numbers have declined by up to 50% since 2000. The Gold Accreditation is well-deserved recognition for our staff and students who have worked hard to make our campuses safe for the prickly creatures, as well as raise awareness of the species’ decline.
