Whether you're on a break from your studies or returning to university, we can offer support and advice.

Step-by-step process

Thinking of taking a break from your studies?

If you're thinking of taking a break from your studies, take a look at the information on MyServices for further information.

We'd advise that you consult your Academic Advisor about taking a break from your studies before formally requesting to do so.

We'd also recommend that you speak to the Finance Office in order to understand how taking a break from your studies may affect your fee liability and finances, by email (fees@bathspa.ac.uk) or phone (+44 (0)1225 87 5870). If you'd like to discuss your finances, please make an appointment with the Student Wellbeing Money Advice service.

Taking a break from your studies

Once you feel you have made a decision, and would like to make a request to take a break in your studies, please can contact the Student Information Team via MyServices.

Your request will be processed and assessed. You will be contacted should we require further information and to confirm the status of your study break request.

Once approved, you will receive a formal communication confirming your study break request, and outlining your return to study date.

If you are living in University or privately owned halls of residence; we would recommend that you contact the Student Accommodation Team and/or your halls of residence provider, to find out what your licence agreement or rental liability will be if you take a break from your studies. The Student Accommodation Team can be contacted on: accommodation@bathspa.ac.uk

With regards to council tax, your local Council will be able to advise you about eligibility for council tax exemption during your study break:

Returning from a break in your studies?

You'll need to register before returning to your studies, please look out for information from our registration team. If you have any questions regarding registration, please contact the Student Information Team via MyServices or on +44 (0)1225 876115.

University life

There are lots of activities and opportunities for you to participate in as you return to your studies.

Take a look at the clubs and societies available through the Students’ Union.

For information regarding returning to your course or research degree, contact your Academic Advisor or PhD Supervisor.

You can also contact your course representative for more information about how to get involved with your course.

Part-time work
