Party in the City comes to Bath for an evening to remember
Wednesday, 15 May, 2024The party of the summer is on its way to Bath - taking place on 17 May from 5 pm and showcasing the best of BSU and local talent.
The city will showcase a total of 39 gigs across the course of one evening, hosted at key venues across the city including Parade Gardens, The Abbey, Komedia, The Guildhall and Green Park Station.
Party-goers can wander freely around the city, exploring an eclectic range of musical genres, from jazz and folk rock to classical, acoustic, swing, and more.
Bath Spa University Commercial Music students are playing a central role in this year’s festival, performing paid gigs at various venues throughout the evening. Nurturing a longstanding relationship, Bath Spa University works closely with the festival to connect its Music students, empowering them to perform in professional venues for large audiences.
Dr Jim Dickinson, Subject Leader of Commercial Music at Bath Spa University said:
“We are delighted that so many of our Commercial Music bands and artists are contributing to the wonderful 'Party in the City' again this year. This shows just how vibrant and resilient the Bath Live music scene is. Despite the sad loss of the famous local music venue, Moles, musicians will always find places to play, and audiences still want to see music live. Live music Lives on in Bath!”
Boasting some of the freshest new talent, the lineup of BSU students includes:
- Nobody's Dad - Boston Tea Party
- Snake Day and Abby Davies - The Boom Battle Bar
- Sober Sundays - Parade Gardens
- Technicolour Steam Train - Parade Gardens
- Chase The Wild - Komedia Electric Bar
- Natalie Langer - Kingsmead Street Bottle
- Finding Mary - St James Wine Vaults / Boom Battle Bar
- Cloud Quartly - The Pig and Fiddle
- The Zafirros - St James Wine Vaults

BSU students from other courses can also get involved in the festivities on a volunteer basis, assisting with the setup and coordination of the event. Party in the City organiser, Bobby Crowhurst said:
“Students can get involved by volunteering at the festival or coming to any of the venues to support their fellow students. They will be able to pick up a printed brochure and plan their night throughout the city!”
