Making and Fabrication Spaces – Bath Spa University

Explore various types of 3D construction - or just make cool stuff - in our dedicated Making space.

The Making and Fabrication spaces are generously-sized areas that enables and supports making in a wide range of materials and processes. With a large selection of specialist model-making tools at your disposal and support from experienced technical staff, you'll have everything you need to create detailed and high-quality work. 

The space is open to everyone as a general making and assembly area for all types of 3D geometric construction, green woodworking, and furniture production. There's also a material library and other resources to support and inspire you.

We have a material library and other resources to support and inspire students, and the space is equipped with specialist model making tools, including: 

  • Circular saw
  • Pillar drill
  • Scroll saw
  • Chop saw
  • Profile cutter
  • Disc sander
  • Lathe
  • Drills/drivers
  • Router
  • Dremel
  • Sewing machine
  • Hand woodworking tools.

As a Bath Spa student of any course, once you’ve booked and attended your safety induction, you can use any of our workshop facilities.

We work closely with your course tutors to ensure that you’re inducted to the workshops that are relevant to your course, and this process is ongoing and flexible – you’re encouraged to attend refresher inductions as needed so that you’re always working safely with the wealth of techniques, facilities and technical support available.
