Support our students – Bath Spa University

We value the expertise and insights that individuals from the business community can provide our students to enrich their career goals and ambitions

We have a variety of ways in which you can engage with our students, not only allowing you to have a direct impact on the emerging talent of Bath Spa University graduates, but also presenting you, or your team, with an opportunity for professional development and student ideas that could benefit your business.

How you can get involved

Industry Mentoring Scheme

At Bath Spa University we believe mentoring acts as a development tool that empowers and motivates both the mentor and mentee.

Our mentoring scheme, MentorMe, exists to connect our students with industry professionals who can convert aspirations into practical steps towards making an easier transition into the world of work.

To find out more about our MentorMe scheme please visit our Mentoring page or contact mentoring@bathspa.ac.uk.

Enterprise Support

As a University, we are committed to placing creative enterprise at the heart of all we do. We are working hard to explore new ways of doing so through academics, industry, business and community partnerships.

We have a leading Business School within the University with the opportunity to connect and utilise its resources. If you’re an entrepreneur, freelancer or successful creative practitioner and would like to share your experience to help new and emerging talent whilst also raising your profile, expanding your network within academia and the University’s business networks, do get in touch.

Through a widening programme including 'Entrepreneurs in Residence', guest speakers, mentoring, participation in pitching panels and SME industry visits, our aim is to provide our graduates with confidence and industry insight. They'll need these to flourish in the local, national and global workplace, to work in and lead teams, and to develop as entrepreneurs and innovators.

Bath Sparks is our support programme designed to help our students and graduates create, share, develop and unleash their entrepreneurial ideas and ventures.

Studio Residencies

Creative practice is central to Bath Spa University, with vibrant schools of both Art and Design, based at our Locksbrook Campus. We work with key external studios within the region, creating opportunities for studios to benefit from our academia, research and networks while providing our emerging talent with supported opportunities to continue to develop their practice once they graduate.

Our Studio Residencies scheme provides recent graduates with up to 10-months free studio space (including utility bills) and access to a range of facilities and peer support, funded by the University. We realise that continuing creative practice development after university can be challenging, and so working with regional studios and opening up these networks is an invaluable opportunity.

We currently work with the following workspace providers:

  • 44AD
  • Bath Artists' Studio
  • Bristol Textile Quarter (with Spike Print Studio)
  • KARST
  • Spike Island.

We would welcome hearing from you if you can provide a similar studio residency experience. There is always much demand from a wide and diverse creative talent pool. For more information please contact employer-services@bathspa.ac.uk.

By developing key relationships within our business community we are able to offer our students the opportunity to receive first-hand experience and guidance from industry professionals.

We aim to provide our students with a wealth of industry interaction, ensuring that they are connected and well equipped to enter the world of work. We facilitate opportunities for them, such as:

  • working on live industry briefs
  • learning from the experiences of others within their chosen career field, and
  • pitching business ventures to an expert panel of enterprising judges.
