Workshops
Walk into one of our specialist workshops – we’ve got one for everything from ceramics to textiles – and you’ll understand why they’re so fundamental to our art and design community.
Turn ideas into reality
Our workshops are the engines of our art and design schools. They're spaces where students from all years and disciplines experiment, teach one another and initiate a wider discourse between students and staff.
You’ll benefit from technical support that is second to none. Our technicians are passionate makers who want you to think big, and will help you find a way to achieve your artistic goals. They enjoy a challenge and are happy to collaborate with both yourself and other technical demonstrators.
Workshops operate with an open door policy, with students coming and going as they please. You’ll see the results of previous experimentations everywhere, from tiny plastic figures printed on one of our 3D printers to unusual ceramics lining the walls of our glaze laboratory.
Discover something new
Almost all of our workshops are open for all students to use, after health and safety introductions and appropriate tuition. It doesn't matter what course you're studying – we encourage you to break boundaries and explore new disciplines.
We work closely with your course tutors to ensure that you’re inducted to the workshops that are relevant to your course, and this process is ongoing and flexible.
We recommend that you attend refresher inductions as needed so that you’re always working safely with the wealth of techniques, facilities and technical support available.
