Fashion workshops
Finesse your technical skills and turn your creative vision into reality.
Working closely with academics and skilled technical staff, you'll work in spaces that double as both fashion workshops and studios.
There's a strong emphasis on ideas, creativity and developing your own personal design philosophy underpinned by excellent pattern cutting and product development skills.
We aim to take the fear out of the 'technical' side of fashion by combining the technical and design elements into one creative endeavour.
Studio workshops are equipped with a range of sewing machines, overlockers, buttonholers, pattern cutting tables and mannequins, along with other necessary equipment to enable you to achieve your vision.
Almost all of the specialist workshops at Locksbrook are open for all students to use, after appropriate tuition and health and safety introductions.
However, please note that the Fashion workshops are an exception to this. They are not open to students on other courses due to the specialist nature of the teaching delivery.
We work closely with your course tutors to ensure that you’re inducted to the workshops that are relevant to your course, and this process is ongoing and flexible.
You’re encouraged to attend refresher inductions as needed so that you’re always working safely with the wealth of techniques, facilities and technical support available.
Need audio-visual support?
Audio recording equipment, high tech video cameras, projectors and various media players, such as DVD and Blu Ray, are available to use.
Our technical demonstrators can get you started with all of these – whether you’re recording and filming in a studio or out in the field, we'll help you to build your confidence with using audio-visual equipment.
