Writing and studying in English at university level can be difficult, especially if this is not your first language. We are here to help you meet these challenges with confidence.

The English Language Unit (ELU) can help you reach your full potential. We provide English language and English for Academic Purposes (EAP) support for all international students whose first language is not English. We run courses, offer individual support and provide access to self-study resources. All our services are free and you're welcome to use them at any point while you study your degree at the University.

Current students can access resources and see upcoming courses on our Intranet (login required).

What support is available?

We have a number of courses and seminars coming up to help you improve your English language and academic skills. These six-week courses will help you to make the most of your time at Bath Spa University. Examples of the types of courses we run include:

  • Writing skills seminars
  • Seminar and presentation skills seminars
  • Social and cultural English seminars.
