Tender Awards 2025: BSU recognised for dedication to creating safer spaces on campus
Monday, 28 July, 2025Staff from two key areas of Bath Spa University were recently proud to accept the RE:SET Universities Completion Award at the 2025 Tender Awards.
Staff from both Student Wellbeing Services and the BSU Student’s Union were on hand to accept the award, recognising BSU’s efforts to educate and enforce a healthier campus culture.
The Tender Awards honour students, teachers, youth workers, schools and universities who have shown incredible commitment to promoting healthy relationships and ending domestic abuse and sexual violence.
From young ambassadors to champions for safer schools, each award recipient has helped shape a future rooted in respect, empathy, and connection.

The RE:SET Universities Completion Award recognises BSU’s completion of Tender’s one-year programme to create a healthier campus culture by educating staff and students to recognise unacceptable behaviour, call it out, and ensure there are robust reporting routes if it does happen.
Speaking about the award win, Luanne Thornton, Disability Advisor in Student Wellbeing Services, said:
“It’s been amazing to see Student Wellbeing Services, Students Union and the whole Bath Spa community come together to achieve this award through Tender’s RE:SET University Programme. The work being done to prevent domestic abuse and sexual violence, and to build healthier relationships and a safer, more supportive campus, is really inspiring.
“The awards evening was such a powerful experience — hearing stories from other youth organisations, from schools to standout youth leaders, really showed how many people are working hard to create safer, more respectful spaces for young people.”
BSU accepted the award alongside the University of East Anglia, showcasing BSU’s commitment to creating a safe and respectful environment for both students and staff.
Oscar Winner and advocate for Tender’s work, Olivia Colman CBE, also attended the event and added further congratulations to BSU’s award win.
Speaking about the importance of protecting children and young people, Colman said:
“Children and young people are growing up bombarded with dangerous attitudes – both online and in the real world. They need the tools, the skills to counteract these damaging narratives.
“Through specialist relationships education, we can empower the next generation to recognise abuse, and developing confidence, strength and respect.”
