Transparency Return
The Office for Students (OfS) requires all higher education providers in England to publish Transparency information showing the qualifications received by UK-domiciled students, split by sex, ethnicity and socioeconomic background.
These breakdowns are intended to support transparency around equality of opportunity and to highlight patterns in student outcomes across different groups.
It is important to note that the data presented is not contextualised. For example, it does not take into account differences in prior attainment, entry qualifications, or individual circumstances that may influence outcomes.
While this data provides insight into student attainment, it does not fully explain the underlying factors affecting these outcomes. In particular, it should be considered alongside the university’s wider work under its widening participation strategy (Widening Participation Strategy (.pdf)) and Access and Participation Plan (Bath Spa University Summary of APP (.pdf)), which aims to improve access to higher education and support student success for individuals from underrepresented and disadvantaged backgrounds.
