Bioblitz

  • Wednesday 22 April at Newton Park

Lakeside: 11.15am-12.30pm
The Walled Gardens: 1.30-3.00pm

Join us in a mass wildlife survey (known as a Bioblitz) across Newton Park. We will be identifying different species of flowers, insects, birds, and anything else of note. You do not need to be an expert!

There will be lots of field guides on hand to help you identify the wildlife you spot. We will gather all of the records on I Naturalist to give us a better idea of what wildlife lives at Newton Park and understand how we can help improve our natural habitats. You are welcome to pop along to any session at any time and stay for as long as you like.

National Emergency Briefing

  • Friday 24 April in the Michael Tippett Centre (2.30-4.30pm)

You are invited to attend Bath Spa’s first screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing. This 50-minute film features footage from last November’s National Emergency Briefing, which brought together leading UK experts in climate science, food security, health, economics, national security and nature.

It presents a clear, measured overview of how the climate and nature crisis is affecting everyday life in Britain, and what the evidence says about risks and responses.

The initiative is explicitly non-partisan and is supported by a wide range of organisations including National Trust, Church of England, Exeter University, the Royal Meteorological Society, WWF, National Education Union, and many more.

After the film, we will provide space for discussion and highlight some action pathways within the BANES area. If you have any questions, please contact environment@bathspa.ac.uk.
