Bath Spa University opens its doors to businesses for inaugural event
Wednesday, 10 June, 2026Bath Spa University recently welcomed 43 delegates from 35 businesses to its Newton Park campus for a new, half-day event designed specifically for those looking to grow, hire and solve challenges in their organisation.
BSU: Open for Business brought together academics, professional staff, industry leaders and creative innovators to showcase what the University can offer to businesses, including access to talent, expertise, facilities, research and support. Led by local entrepreneurs Veronica Hannon and Daniel O'Connor, co-founders of Transform Comms, the event offered fresh insights on navigating growth, change and complexity for businesses at all stages of development.
Attendees had a chance to network and find out from teams across the University how their innovative work could support business needs and listened to several talks delivered by BSU staff and actual companies that have benefited from working with the University.
Guests also benefitted from a keynote session exploring the unexpected ways in which collaboration, communication and innovation can bring fresh ideas to business, support sustainability and equip businesses with cutting-edge ideas to solve everyday challenges.
Attendees also had the chance to tour BSU’s state of the art facilities and connect directly with expert staff from across the University as well as like-minded organisations.
Peter Russell, Head of Business Development at the Centre for Innovation and Knowledge Exchange at BSU said:
“It was such a pleasure to welcome so many businesses to our wonderful facility for the first time. Many people commented how surprised and delighted they were about the range of activities underway at the University and the number of ways they could collaborate. We look forward to arranging more of these opportunities in the future and helping to meet the needs of local organisations.”
