Strategy 2035: Bath City FC
Wednesday, 15 April, 2026BSU has officially launched its new Strategy 2035. To mark the launch, we’re exploring how the University embodies professional creativity throughout our campuses and initiatives, through a series of features on the BSU community.
Oli Pacetti is a second year Sports Media Production student at Bath Spa University, who has recently taken skills learnt through his course into a new role as Bath City FC's (BCFC) social media manager.
As sponsors of both the men’s and women’s teams, BSU’s partnership with the club has opened up work and volunteering opportunities for students and University staff, community engagement programmes, curriculum development, and student experience initiatives.
Applying creativity in a professional environment, Oli uses his design, photography and presenting skills in a live professional environment. From designing graphics to delivering real-time updates during matches, his work at BCFC reflects the fast-paced, multifaceted world of sports media.
Oli was first made aware of the opportunity after a guest lecture from the then social media manager, Matt Francis. Taking advantage of the introduction, Oli turned the experience into a tangible career opportunity and began shadowing Matt at the club. His role quickly evolved into a permanent position with significant responsibility.

BSU’s partnership with BCFC continues to facilitate opportunities for the University community and has helped Oli to grow the confidence to branch out into the world of sports media, showcasing his skills in a professional environment. Discussing how BSU helped him to secure the role, he said:
“BSU has given me the confidence to step out of my comfort zone and work for a big club like Bath City. The uni and the football club have a great relationship.
“I’ve been lucky to experience amazing opportunities while studying. Two other coursemates and I worked on a retirement video for Laura Deas. Ex-skeleton team GB athlete, and, at the start of second year, we met Matt Weston and Tabitha Stoecker, who both won gold at the recent Milan-Cortina winter Olympics."
Working in a public-facing role means Oli’s work is constantly visible to fans of the club and the wider football community. Discussing how this exposure has accelerated his skill development, Oli said:
“One of the biggest benefits of the role is that people see my work. I post a lot of my work on Instagram and LinkedIn, which gives me exposure in the industry. I’ve developed my graphic design skills, and I can see myself improving every day.”
