Bath Spa ranked first class in People and Planet University League

Friday, 9 August, 2019

Bath Spa University has been given a first class award in the latest People and Planet University League table, making it one of the greenest universities in the UK.

The People and Planet University League, now in its tenth year, is the only comprehensive and independent league table of UK universities ranked by environmental and ethical performance, across 13 different categories.

Bath Spa was ranked 26th overall out of 154 institutions, and scored 100 per cent for its environmental auditing and management systems, 90 per cent in recognition of its environmental sustainability policy and strategy, and 85 per cent for carbon management. The full scorecard and league table can be found on the People and Planet website.

Over the last ten years, the University has continued to improve its environmental performance. It has reduced its carbon emissions by over 50 per cent per m2, an impressive 80 per cent of all University waste is recycled, and biodiversity at its sites is thriving thanks to its biodiversity and habitat management plan.
