Isik Akin – Bath Spa University

Personal statement

Isik is a highly experienced and passionate lecturer in Finance and he is the Accounting Pathway Lead. He is a module leader for Financial Accounting and Management Accounting for undergraduate modules, as well as for postgraduate modules in Financial and Management Accounting and Corporate Financial Management.

In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Isik has made significant contributions to the field through his research endeavors. He has authored a multitude of articles and book publications, showcasing his commitment to advancing knowledge in Finance.

Isik's professional journey extends beyond academia, as he has played pivotal roles in various administrative capacities. Notably, from 2016 to 2017, he served as a European Union Project Manager, where he demonstrated his organizational and leadership skills. During this period, he concurrently held the positions of Vice-Principal at the Institute of Health Science, President of the Bologna Committee, and Partnership Manager for China, showcasing his ability to excel in diverse roles and responsibilities.

Prior to his current position, Isik contributed to the academic community by teaching various Economics and Finance Modules for both undergraduate and postgraduate students at Worcester University and the University of Arts London. His diverse teaching portfolio includes Mathematics, Statistics, International Finance, International Banking and Finance, International Settlement, Corporate Finance, Quantitative Part of Research Methods, Economics and Globalisation, Accounting, and Insurance.

Isik's dedication to academic excellence is further highlighted by his active involvement in research within the field of Finance. His contributions continue to enrich the academic discourse and promote a deeper understanding of financial concepts.

Furthermore, Isik has exhibited his ability to secure external funding and manage projects effectively. In 2021-2022, he successfully secured a grant for the Connect4Innovation: UK-Turkey Higher Education Institutional Partnership Fund project. This achievement highlights his commitment to fostering international collaborations and advancing educational initiatives.
