Personal statement
James Shaw is the Curriculum Manager for the Short Course Unit, bringing over six years of experience in the skills and education sector, alongside eight years in graphic design and communications.
In his role, James supports on the design and delivery of Skills Bootcamps and short courses, driving curriculum innovation, overseeing programme quality, and ensuring an outstanding learning experience across the portfolio. He is responsible for designing curriculum plans, managing delivery standards and continuously enhancing provision to meet evolving industry and learner needs.
Since joining the university in 2021 as a lecturer on the Creative Computing Skills Bootcamp, James has supported more than 1,000 learners through the Short Course Unit’s diverse and career-focused programmes.
James also played a key leadership role in achieving the Short Course Unit’s Outstanding Ofsted rating in July 2025, contributing to the unit’s recognition for excellence in curriculum design, delivery, and learner outcomes.
