Personal statement

Paul joined Bath Spa Criminology in 2024. Prior to this, he worked in security practice both in the United Kingdom and abroad, including practice in the NGO humanitarian de-mining field, as a consultant to central government and as a military officer.

His research interests include the use and organisation of coercive force by state (police and military) and non-state (private security/military, organised crime, insurgency) groups.

Paul is a recipient of the Hobhouse Memorial Prize for Academic Excellence.

Paul teaches on the following modules:

  • Terrorism Studies
  • Criminal Justice: Theory, Policy and Practice.
