Personal statement

Simona has an extensive experience of working in highly demanding and often stressful environments. Prior to joining Bath Spa University in 2025 as a Complex Case Manager, she had worked in the Police, the National Health Service (NHS) and the Fire & Rescue Service for over 14 years in various roles within Health & Wellbeing, Quality Assurance, Risk and Clinical Audit and Trauma Risk Management.

Simona has wide experience with supporting individuals exposed to potentially traumatic events as well as successfully implementing trauma risk management processes within organisations that regularly expose staff to difficult, potentially traumatic events. During her time working for a psychological health consultancy she had delivered training relevant to trauma risk management to organisations such as Boarder Force, Transport for London, government and global organisations.

During her career, she has carried out numerous mental health briefings and coordinated Trauma Risk Management (TRiM) responses to significant incidents, including during and post COVID in the NHS and Fire & Rescue Service. Simona is one of the two co-founders of the NHS TRiM Network set up post COVID pandemic in November 2021. In February 2023, following the Turkey earthquake, she supported deployed volunteers returning back to the UK, and was an invited speaker at the Ukrainian TRiM/ PTSD conference in June 2024.
