Building on my recent dance work, Being River, this project explores new possibilities in dance, mixed reality (MR), and motion capture (MoCap). Stage One develops a duet performance in which two performers, each using MR headsets, share a real-time virtual environment with the audience.
The work investigates how intercultural identities and bodily memories shape technology-driven choreography, while also examining ways to enhance the sensory and immersive qualities of performance. By merging physical movement with virtual space, the project aims to contribute to innovative practices in choreography and immersive arts.
Being River
Being River delves into the embodiment of identity and the entanglement between dancing bodies and cutting-edge technologies, including virtual reality, motion capture, real-time interaction and sensors.
This innovative performance explores the concept of intercultural identity and transcultural experiences, metaphorically represented through the inherent qualities of a river – fluidity, continuous movement and adaptability.
By merging the artistry of dance with advanced technological interventions, Being River prompts audiences to reflect on the dynamic and ever-changing nature of identity.
