Privacy and data collection while using our web chat function
We have a web chat service available via our website, which is provided by Unibuddy.
Using this service will require you to share some personal information.
Bath Spa University will process your personal information, via our partner, Unibuddy.
What we collect and how we use the information
The personal data we’ll gather via Unibuddy consists of:
- First name
- Last name
- Country
- Postcode
- Date of birth
- Level of study
- Subject of interest
- Course of interest
- Intended year of entry and whether you have already applied to Bath Spa University.
Unibuddy may collect additional data to the points outlined above but we won’t have access to it. You can read Unibuddy’s full privacy notice.
You will also provide information shared in chat conversations and interactions with student ambassadors. We’ll have access to view this conversation data but we won’t store it on our systems.
What happens when you use Unibuddy
When you sign up to Unibuddy, you will be asked to opt in or out of marketing.
if you choose to opt in, we will use this data to send you information about courses that we believe will be of interest to you, as well as information designed to support you in your transition to study at Bath Spa, should you choose to.
It will also allow prospective students and student ambassadors to interact as part of the Service. We do not use the data we collect to make decisions about individuals. If you decide to out of marketing once you are opted in, you’ll be able to do it from the email you receive from us and/or emailing your request to be@bathspa.ac.uk.
The legal basis for the processing of your data is legitimate interest. The University monitors the student journey to make us more efficient in our student recruitment activities. If you decide to not opt in or to opt out of marketing communications, the use of your data will be restricted to this processing. You can always ask for your data to be erased from our database via emailing be@bathspa.ac.uk
