Bath Spa University of Newton Park, Newton St Loe, Bath BA2 9BN is the data controller for the purpose of the Data Protection Act 2018.

By proceeding to use our website you consent that we may process the personal data (including sensitive personal data) that we collect from you in accordance with our Data Protection Policy. In particular, we will use information we hold about you enable us to:

• Provide education and support services to our students and staff
• Advertise and promote the university and the services we offer
• Publish the university magazine and alumni relations
• Undertake research and fundraising
• Manage our accounts and records and
• Provide commercial activities to our clients.

We also process personal information for the use of CCTV systems to monitor and collect visual images for the purposes of security and the prevention and detection of crime. We use smart cards to provide access to buildings and services for staff and students and an audit trail is maintained for some services.

Videos on our web pages are embedded mostly from YouTube and Vimeo. These third-parties might be gathering usage information and setting their own cookies. Details of their privacy policies can be found here:

Some of our web pages contain social networking buttons and functions, from providers such as Facebook, Twitter and Google, to enable the sharing of pages. The scripts used to generate these buttons come from from third-party websites and the third-parties might be gathering usage information and setting their own cookies. Use of images

Although most of the photographs and images used in our websites are created specifically for Bath Spa University, some are sourced from commercial stock image libraries. We must therefore prohibit downloading, republication, retransmission, reproduction or other use of any images from our website. The copyright of commercially licensed images remains with the photographer or the stock image library.

International websites

Please note that the official Bath Spa University websites in China and Taiwan are designed to be viewed in the host country language and do not translate accurately into English using web-based translators. If you wish to view these websites in English, please access the main University website via the ‘English’ home page link.

Staff and student web pages

Every member of staff or individual student wishing to place material on our servers has to agree to the University's Regulations For Use of Computer Facilities which forbids them from publishing libellous or illegal content. These regulations are based on UK law.

Any individual who breaks these regulations will have their pages removed immediately and, where the content of the pages is found to be illegal, Bath Spa University will refer the matter to the appropriate authorities.

Bath Spa University makes every effort to check the content of the staff and student homepages contained on this server on a regular basis. However the uploading of personal websites is carried out entirely by the individuals who own the pages, and therefore Bath Spa University cannot guarantee that pages will be totally free from libellous or illegal content.

We have a web chat function available, to enable prospective students to ask our current students about what it's like to study at Bath Spa.
