Offers and applications FAQs

All you need to know about our application process, and what to do once you've received your offer.

How quickly will I get my offer?

The Admissions team will consider every application individually. Much also depends on when you apply. If you apply close to the UCAS deadline at the end of January, there will be a backlog of applications and it can take up to several weeks for an offer to be made or an invitation to interview/audition or a portfolio request to be made. At other times, do not be surprised if you receive a decision in less than one week.

We are conscious that you want your decisions quickly, but we are also keen to ensure that our courses are your best fit.

What if I already have my qualifications?

If you already have your qualifications the Admissions team will automatically consider you for an unconditional offer. In these circumstances we will contact you to provide scans of your certificates.

What type of offer I will receive if my course involves an interview or audition?

If you pass through our portfolio assessment/ interview and audition process, then we will in most cases make an unconditional offer. Our academic teams assess you and your work, giving us a more accurate view of your potential than through your predicted grades alone. This will give us the confidence to make an unconditional offer, as we will know you have what it takes to succeed.

Once I have my offers, when do I need to make up my mind?

UCAS sets deadlines for when you need to make up your mind. View the dates on the UCAS website.

If you miss your offer, your entry depends on whether the course you hold a conditional offer for is full or not. If it is full, there is a chance that you will be rejected or be offered a place on an alternative course through clearing. If, however, the course is not full, the Admissions team will return to your application and reconsider whether your place could still be confirmed.

Can I defer my application or offer?

In most cases you can defer your application or offer until the next academic year. If you would like to defer your confirmed place please email your request to - admissions@bathspa.ac.uk. Please make sure to include your UCAS Personal ID (or Bath Spa ID number), date of birth and your full name.

Can I make changes to my application?

It isn’t too late to make changes to your application, but it does depend on what you want to change. For specific guidance on changing your course please visit UCAS.

Visit us

Explore our unique facilities and find out more about Bath Spa by visiting our campuses.

Can I visit campus?

You can visit campus at one of our Open Days, which run throughout the year. Once you have applied and have received an offer, you'll be invited to an Offer Holder Day, to explore campus and meet your future course mates.

Applicants can also book a guided or virtual tour of our campuses online.

Claiming back your travel costs

We recognise that the cost of travelling to an Offer Holder Day, interview, or audition may be a barrier for our applicants.

So, if you live more than 10 miles away from the campus you are visiting, you can claim back some of your travel costs, after you've attended an Offer Holder Day, interview, or audition.

For distances between 10 and 20 miles (one way), you can claim back £15 towards your travel costs, and £30 if you've travelled further than 20 miles.

How do I get to campus?

Bath Spa is located in the city of Bath. The University's main campuses, Newton Park, Locksbrook and Sion Hill, are easy to reach by public transport or road.

The University is committed to its sustainability policy and encourages staff, students, and visitors to travel by public transport where possible.

International applicants

If you are applying from outside the UK, you can find out more about the process, including key information about visas, English language requirements and funding.

How do I apply as an international student?

If you're interested in an undergraduate course, you can still apply for a place via UCAS. For postgraduate courses, you should use the Apply Now button located in the centre of the course webpage. More information can be found on our International pages.

Can I get funding as an international student?

The funding that you're eligible for as an international student depends on your fee status, the type of course you're studying, and when you start your Bath Spa University studies.

Our International Funding pages provide information on financial aid, scholarships, and more for international applicants.
