Bath Spa University receives accreditation across major courses

Friday, 1 March, 2024

Bath Spa University is delighted that all of our Architecture undergraduate programmes are now fully prescribed by the Architects Registration Board (ARB) from 1 December 2023 to 31 December 2028.

Bath Spa University’s Architecture courses allow students to learn about the relationships between conservation, planning and the use and reuse of spaces in response to crucial issues such as climate change, biodiversity loss and supporting fair societies.

Students are based at our vibrant Locksbrook Campus and are given the chance to work on a range of regional, national and international projects.

Ian Parkes, Architecture Course Leader, said of the recent accreditation:

“We are really pleased to have our BA (Hons) Architecture programme receive prescription from the ARB. The strength of UK architectural education is globally recognised, and it is a point of pride to be counted as part of this community. It is great to see the care and planning undertaken by the University recognised in achieving Prescription, and it gives our students confidence in the standards being met by our programmes at Bath Spa University.”

The good news doesn’t stop there though, with the British Psychology Society (BPS) accreditation of all Psychology undergraduate programmes also being confirmed earlier this month.

Bath Spa University Psychology courses allow students to understand the mind and human behaviours from a number of different perspectives, setting up graduates for a range of challenges and different industries.

Professor Georgina Andrews, Deputy Vice-Chancellor said:

“This accreditation evidences the quality of our provision and is a real milestone moment for our School of Design which is based at our Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) award winning Locksbrook Campus. Our Architecture course is one of the first to incorporate sustainability and creativity at the heart of the curriculum. The successful reaccreditation of our psychology courses also highlights the applied, professional nature of our courses, which are designed to boost graduate employability.”
