Ballet West statement - 14th August 2020

Bath Spa University has approved the BA Ballet degree for delivery by Ballet West since September 2019. We are very concerned by the recent allegations that have been made about the former Vice-Principal of Ballet West. After careful consideration and in light of the circumstances, we have decided to end our partnership with Ballet West with immediate effect.

We have contacted all our students on the degree programme at Ballet West and will work with them individually to help ensure their studies are not disadvantaged by this situation. The safety and wellbeing of students is of paramount importance to us and our Student Wellbeing Services is here for any students who may need support at this time. Ballet West update - 3 September 2020

On 14 August Bath Spa University ended its partnership with Ballet West in light of serious allegations made about the former Vice-Principal. Since then the University has worked closely with all the students currently on the BA Ballet degree programme, and those who were due to join the degree programme in September, to help them find an alternative place to continue their studies.

Bath Spa University has been in contact with the Chair of the Board of Trustees at Ballet West and with French Duncan LLP, the provisional liquidator of Ballet West. The University is also in contact with all relevant regulatory authorities, including the SQA, SAAS, the Office for Students and the Student Loan Company.

Any students who are currently studying or were due to undertake the HNC or HND programmes at Ballet West should contact The Scottish Qualification Authority (SQA) at customer@sqa.org.uk who will be able to advise on alternative provision for these courses.

The Board of Trustees of Ballet West have issued a statement on the school website: https://www.balletwest.co.uk/. Student accommodation at Ballet West was provided under separate contract with separate entities not included in the Ballet West liquidation. Any queries regarding accommodation costs should be made directly to the landlords via bartonaccommodation@gmail.com.
