BSU statement on recent events
Wednesday, 7 August, 2024Content warning: References to hate crime and racism
As a university, we are appalled and saddened by the violence and racism we have witnessed across the country in recent days, particularly close to home in Bristol and in London. We stand shoulder to shoulder with fellow institutions and organisations in a clear statement of condemnation, there is no place for hate and violence in our society.
BSU has inclusivity at the very heart of our core values. We welcome, support and value people of diverse backgrounds, genders, races and nationalities to our community as staff, students and partners and it is this diversity which makes Bath Spa University so special.
We understand that colleagues, students and alumni may be affected by the news, and we wanted to let you know we are here to support you in any way that we can.
There are a number of internal and external services which are available, whether that is to talk through how you are feeling or to report an incident and access support.
In an emergency, please call 999. We urge all of our students and staff to stay safe.
