We are so excited for you to be joining us. We know this is a new chapter for you and we want to help you prepare and settle in as quickly as possible.
We understand that life at university is about more than getting a degree. Whether it’s the communities you are part of, the events you attend or the support available to you, it’s all part of your Bath Spa University student experience and we are committed to enriching your time at BSU and ensuring it's both enjoyable and memorable.

Pre-Arrival checklist
- Register online - you will receive an email before the start of the academic year. International students will need to attend an in person enrolment session, more details can be found on the Registration and Enrolment section of the website.
- Get in touch with Student Wellbeing Services for help with reasonable adjustments, mental health and wellbeing support.
- Check you're up to date with vaccines (such as MenACWY) and that you've registered with the University Medical Service to access any other medical needs e.g. prescription top-ups.
- Once registered, download the My Bath Spa App ready for the start of term: App store, Google Play store, or view in browser.
- Share the Parents and Supporters information with your family - there's lots of useful information there for them too.
- Once you’ve received your BSU username and set up your password, get your connection to campus Wi-Fi set up so you’re ready for when you arrive - check out the IT Services page for details on how to do this.

Information for Mature Students
If you are 21 years old or over you are officially a mature student! The Students' Union community group - The Mature Student Network- is a place where you can meet and share your unique experiences with others just like you. Check out the SU's webpage for when the next social is going to be.
Information for International Students
We know that coming to the UK to study is a big step, especially if this is your first time away from home. We want to make sure that you have access to all the information and support that you need to help you prepare for student life in the UK.
Visit our International Arrivals page where you'll find further information regarding key dates, activities and a summary of information to prepare you for your arrival.
International tip: We recommend that our international students sign up for the monthly UK Council for International Student Affairs (UKCISA) student newsletter.
You can also download the British Council 'Staying safe in the UK' booklet and follow them on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
English Language Unit
We're here to support all international students whose first language isn't English. We focus on developing your English and academic language skills through tailored support and individual in-depth 50 minute tutorials to help with your assignments. All ELU services are completely free to Bath Spa students. Get in touch: elu@bathspa.ac.uk.

Information for Young Adult Carers, Estranged and Foyer students
We want you to get the best out of your course and university experience, and additional support is available if you identify with any of these groups. You can have a named point of contact in our Wellbeing Service.
They can speak with you about your eligibility for additional bursaries, accommodation and student finance. If helpful, your advisor will stay in regular contact with you throughout your time at Bath Spa.

Reading these policies before you arrive will ensure that you're aware of your rights and also our expectations.
Key documents to bring with you
It's important to bring ID with you when you come to university. This could include photo ID such as your passport or a driving license, or other forms of ID such as a birth certificate or Certificate of registration as a British citizen. International students might also need to bring visa or residency documents.
If you're thinking of working at BSU as a Casual Student worker (e.g. Student Ambassador), you'll need to bring some essential documents with you to show proof of your Right to Work in the UK. For some opportunities, for example the Student Outreach Ambassador role, you may need an Enhanced Bath Spa DBS and will need extra documentation.
