Bath Carnival
Bath Carnival is a free party in the city celebrating carnival arts, as well as diversity of Bath’s people and culture.
Every year in July, Bath Carnival hold their highly anticipated carnival, a day filled with a vibrant parade and live music, finishing with an evening after-party. With the inclusion of dancers, musicians, volunteers, and those simply there to enjoy the spectacle, the whole community can get involved with Bath Carnival.
Bath Carnival holds a range of workshops and events throughout the year in the run up to the parade, which involve construction of carnival props and puppets, as well as events with other partnered organisations such as Komedia.
Partnership
Bath Carnival work closely with Theatre, Festival and Events students, offering placement opportunities working in their studio. Students can upskill in specialist subject areas such as design and workshop delivery and obtain a better understanding of large-scale community arts projects and project management.
Bath Carnival also offers two free puppetry masterclasses, specifically delivered for students and young artists in B&NES. These introduce the skill and concepts of puppetry, as well as actual construction.
Bath Carnival also invites students to participate in the Carnival itself through volunteering. Whether this is being a Performer in the procession, Festival Steward, Photographer or Support Artist, there are many opportunities for students to get involved, gain valuable experience and enjoy the event.
