The Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution (BRLSI) is an independent treasure that has been promoting Science, Literature and Art to the City of Bath for 200 years.

Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution (BRLSI) is a not-for-profit organisation located on Queen’s Square in Bath, championing heritage, science, literature and the arts, as well as history, geography and contemporary debates. In addition to putting on festivals for the wider community, hosting visiting exhibitions and world-class events, BRLSI has its own permanent collection of art and artefacts and an historic library encompassing exploration, history, philosophy and religion.

Their mission is to provide a cultural hub for the community and a space to learn and educate.

BRLSI also hosts Bath’s Jane Austen Society and the Gaskell Society. Rooms at their Queen Square building can be independently hired: Meeting Room Booking and Venue Hire

Partnership

BRLSI is currently inviting BSU students and staff to engage in discussion regarding collaborative projects, student talks, live briefs to enhance student learning or utilising BRLSI’s hireable spaces for art exhibitions and shows.

BRLSI welcomes students to their talks at a reduced cost and offers educational opportunities and visits to their specialist collection. BRLSI is also keen to involve student volunteers, so they can broaden their work experience in this heritage environment; and to encourage ‘student conveners’ who can organise and deliver their own talks to their contemporaries and the wider public.

BRLSI offers a discounted rate for room hire for members of Bath Spa University, so providing further space for educational collaborations and knowledge exchange.
