Want to learn to sew? Have clothing that needs fixing? Need some encouragement to achieve your creative potential?
Community Threads is a relaxed and welcoming group aimed towards helping people gain confidence with their sewing skills whilst spending time with others. Through demonstrations and individual one to one support, learners will be shown a range of skills and be able to practice using sewing machines or with hand sewing to develop own projects and explore creative ideas.
Everyone is welcome - especially those with an interest in meeting other like-minded people looking to learn sewing skills and explore creative ideas.
You'll be welcomed by experienced and enthusiastic staff who aim to bring out and celebrate your strengths. You'll be encouraged to explore your own ideas and supported to achieve your own goals, whatever they might be.
This drop in offer is for all levels; from those who wish to enhance their own artistic work to beginners who would like to try a new process. All materials and equipment are provided – you just need to turn up and have a lot of fun.
Free refreshments and a warm welcome guaranteed.

Meet the team
Belinda Riley is an experienced and enthusiastic educator who aims to bring out and celebrate the strengths of any individual.
Exploration and experimentation is highly encouraged within the relaxed and welcoming learning environment she creates, where she'll help you to learn through discussion, problem solving and practical demonstrations.
Terms and conditions
Fully funded by the West of England Combined Authority and working with Little Lost Robot, our Community Learning courses are for you if you are:
- over 19 years old and unemployed
- over 19 years old earning under the real living wage (£23,400 per year) and/or you are over the age of 50.
