Gain a solid and practical understanding of screen printing, helping you to confidently create professional-quality prints and bring your artistic ideas to life with different techniques and hands-on experience.

During this two-day Beginner’s Screenprinting workshop you’ll have a comprehensive induction to the screenprinting process and gain hands-on experience in both the workshop environment and the use of essential equipment.
Throughout the course you’ll work in groups and explore a variety of drawing and image-making techniques to help you develop and prepare your own artwork for the silk screen-printing process. You’ll be guided through each stage, from creating stencils and preparing your screen, to mastering the fundamentals of printing.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll have created a series of prints featuring your own original designs, along with a deeper understanding of the methods and materials involved.
Whether you're interested in printmaking for personal practice or future creative projects, this course is designed especially for beginners and is ideal for anyone looking to build a solid foundation in screen printing techniques.

This course will take place at Locksbrook Campus, Bath, BA1 3EL.
The next course takes place 16 and 17 August, 10:30am – 3:30pm.
This short course costs £145 per person.
Please wear old clothes as the workshop can be messy, all other materials will be provided.
Meet the team
Dominic McKeown is an artist with extensive experience in technical demonstration and workshop facilitation, specialising in silk screen printing, sculpture and installation.
He graduated from Textiles Art Design and Fashion (BA) at Ulster University in 2017 and an MFA in Sculpture and Installation in 2020. Through in-depth study he has gained specialist knowledge in screen printing: understanding processes including degreasing screens, coating emulsions, the mesh ratio, exposure time, de-coating and repairing screens.
Throughout Dominic’s higher education, artistic career and industry experience, he has also gained a valuable range of other skills such as casting, woodwork, 3d printing, video and installation.
Dominic was previously the Freeland’s Studio Fellow at Bath Spa University (2024-25) and is also a former Co-Director at Catalyst Arts (2021-23). He is the current technical demonstrator in screen print at Bath Spa University.
