BSU and Bath City FC unveil student-designed third shirt

Wednesday, 22 October, 2025

Bath Spa University and Bath City Football Club have a long-standing partnership that has grown in strength in recent years. The latest collaboration with ‘The Romans’ sees the debut of a brand new, student-designed, third shirt that was fully revealed at last night’s Student Night fixture.

Over 1,000 people were in attendance – including over 100 students and staff from BSU – to watch Bath City’s game 2-0 win against AFC Totton, with an exclusive look at the shirt available to those in attendance.

The brand new Bath City third shirt, conceptualised by BSU Sports Media Production student Callum Crowther and brought to life by Bath City’s Head of Social Media Matt Francis, is a tribute to the city of Bath, its heritage and the traditions of the football club. The shirt was submitted as part of a competition that saw over 25 students enter, with a panel of BSU experts from across a range of courses selecting the final design.

A slick black and gold design, the shirt has two distinct features: a skyline view of the city of Bath outlined in gold and a traditional Roman pattern on the sleeve cuff. The shirt is designed to act as both a functioning sports shirt and a fashion statement, leaning into the growing market of football kit collectors.

Speaking about his concept, Callum said:

“I wanted to make a shirt that isn’t too over the top, one that isn’t too vibrant, yet stands out, adding the city map covers a lot of the shirt while still being subtle, and the colourway of black and gold works really well together!

I’ve always liked the look of a black and gold shirt, so to have one for Bath is great. It’s an amazing feeling to have won the competition and seen my concept come to life.”

The shirt was revealed for the first time during the successful student night alongside an accompanying film produced by designer Callum and fellow BSU student Ethan Hillier. The film features BSU students past and present, as well as Bath City youth team player Freddie Aston and long-standing Bath City legend Jim Rollo.

Combining elements of the past and adding a modern twist, the new third shirt is available to purchase on the Bath City website and will also be available, in limited quantities, in the Newton Park campus shop.

Upon seeing the shirt for the first time in real life, Callum said:

“I love the shirt! I think it matches what I originally wanted it to look like, and the gold shines really adding to the overall feel of luxury.”

Anyone looking to purchase a shirt is encouraged to act fast as the initial run is limited edition and sure to sell fast. You can get your shirt on the Bath City website.
